There has been a lot of confusion about what radio nuclides have been released at the nuclear power plants that went in to meltdown in Fukushima Japan. Also, the information that is given often does not tell us how these radioactive elements affect the body. There are three types of radiation: Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Here I will try to explain what these types of radiation are and give a list of radio nuclides (radioactive elements and isotopes) that can be released from the nuclear power plants.
